Huck is 3 months old!
He is such a big boy that I often have to remind myself that he's only 3 months old and although he may want to, he really can't walk yet. I have a feeling that Huck will be up and around much sooner than Della was. He's already demonstrating his desire to chase after his sister. When Della is in the room Huck's eyes follow her closely and he starts squirming in her direction ... unless of course he's hungry in which case his eyes are glued on my boobs.
Huck has been busy growing. At his 2 month appointment he weighed in at 16.5 lbs and 24 inches which put him in the 'very large baby' category. I'm sure he's gained more than a couple pounds since then but I don't track his weight, I track his clothing size. In the last month we've rapidly progressed from 3 months to 6 month sized jammies.
I also track his growth by measuring my sleep deprivation. Less sleep = more growing. Last week there were a couple nights during which I woke up every hour and a half to feed the kid. This week we are on a 4 hour cycle which equates to 2 nighttime feedings. I have faith that someday soon this growth spurt will level off and I'll be granted a full 6 hour sleep cycle.
I'm back to work so Huck spends his days with Nana. He benefited from lessons we learned with Della regarding bottle feeding and milk that turns soapy due to an overabundance of ammino acids. Della's food supply had a shelf life of 2 days, Huck's food supply turns soapy after 2 hours. Needless to say, making sure he has a constant supply of mama-milk has made my life complicated. I have built a private kitchen in my office in order to scald (pasteurize) freshly pumped milk. No one at work has mentioned the recent additions to my office, a small refrigerator and bottle warmer, so possibly they think all nursing moms need these items at work? Obviously my hard work and dedication is paying off as Huck isn't missing any meals.
Being that he's still a baby Huck's daily schedule is primarily eat=sleep-eat-sleep-play-eat-sleep ... you get the picture although he is showing signs of maturing into the hand grabbing - rolling over stage so this next month could get exciting!!!
