Avery Park = TRAINS!

Huck LOVES Trains
He also loves bulldozers, excavators, planes, and monster trucks
but our visit to Avery park in Corvallis was all about THE train.
The very same steam engine I played on as a child.
On our recent visit to the great-grandparents I was excited to introduce Avery park to Huck & Della.
Happily, the park did not disappoint ... it was a Train-tastic Fun!
 Steam Engine No. 5

The train still has many moving parts for kids to play with!
Unlike the Mt. Rainier Train museum we visited recently,
Avery park has gone to great lengths to preserve this Steam Engine
so kids can twist knobs, pull levers, and climb all over every surface.

Just below the train is a sculpture park ...
not sure what it's meant to represent
I always saw whale bones ...

 Della is definitely our climber!

 Back up to the Train

Della saw some other kids climbing the coal car
monkey see -- monkey do

our only request was that she traverse the coal car right down the middle
stay away from the edge!!! and hold on tight!
Little monkey ... she did this route twice!

She wanted to climb to the top of the engine car roof
where some crazy lady was sitting
but unfortunately mama put a kabosh on that climbing route.

 The End
We won't mention the epic meltdown Della had over sharing a teeter totter in the playground
or Huck's epic diaper blowout

Avery Park -- We'll be back!
