Huck is ALL boy

With an older Disney-loving sister

Huck has been exposed to plenty of pink-princess-dressup-girly stuff

Yet ... without waiver

Huck's true all-boy nature shines through

Huck Rainier @ 18 months

Love Motorcycles  ... as long as they aren't running

(he runs away when daddy is near as he's the one who turns it on)

He LOVES to 'drive' 

(as in throws a huge tantrum when he's removed from the drivers seat 

or when someone leaves home without him)

 Loves tools and knows how to use them

(as in, your'e not allowed to use tools without his help 

and 

he sticks his tongue out when concentrating)

 Is striving towards becoming the man around the house

 Loves to climb trees

(but not with a bare bottom ... lesson learned)

 

 Is already developing a technology habit ...

has a strong fondness for YouTube videos of Trucks ...

specifically bulldozers ...

uses his belly to prop up tech devices

 Is always willing to help dig a mud-hole

(does anyone else have a designated mud-hole in their garden?)

Loves animals

(he's attempting to snuggle with Patches ... 

who promptly left the scene)

 Loves anything with an engine

Loves his trusty shovel

It was never our intention to 'program' gender traits into our kids

quite the opposite, we specifically focus on not to directing their preferences 

so it's been amazing to watch Della and Huck each define their own likes and dislikes

Della is a tomboy daredevil with a serious dash of pink-Disney-girl 

Huck is a cautious, calculated, dirt & tool loving kid 

So far the parental journey has been highly entertaining 

Fill the tub, little by little

They do play together ... occasionally

He helpfully held the faucet steady while she held the bowl

and they carefully filled it full of water 

and teamwork filled the tub

 **it was cold, cold, water ... just as they like it

Trench Digging

If you have kids

and are planning to dig a trench in your back yard

you'd better plan for them to be involved

Warm sunny days should always end with dirty tired kids

even if it means I vacuum the floor 3 times a day

Dirty Babies

Because ... Dirty babies are cute

especially when covered in chocolate ice-cream

Bathtime Showers with Huck

Because it was the first time he willingly stood under the shower and enjoyed it

Because he is so darn cute

Because someday he's going to look a these and say ...

Really mom? Pictures of me in the Shower? 

And he'll say it with the same expression from picture #3

  Huck ... I do it because I love you. Really.

Bath Balls

Every once in awhile these kids discover where I've hidden the bags of balls 

and I'll cave to their requests to play 

even though I know it results in me chasing those darn balls all over the house 

until I can hide them away again

 Put them over your ears like this - says Della

 Like this? - says Huck

 No silly. Like this. - says Della

 Peak-a-boo

 We closed the shower curtain so they could throw balls in a confined space and her goal quickly became throwing balls out over the shower curtain

I'd throw them back so really mama was instigating things
