Short Leg Hikers

Prior to our move south, with daddy away most evenings and weekends working on the new house, the kids and I went exploring. 

I'll brag a little ... these two are amazing hikers!  

Offer up some well-timed chocolate or lollipops and they can hike for miles ... well at least 2 miles.

 These two have such different perspectives on the world;

Della is a people watcher. She likes to talk to her friends on the trail. She likes to ask lots of questions. She also spots all those random small things some of us might overlook. She moves quickly and stops suddenly. She has lots of energy and recharges quickly.

Huck moves along steadily but at a slower pace. He likes to talk to himself. He'd rather sit and watch the ducks than chase the ducks. If you point out something interesting he'll sit and watch it ... for a long, long time ... or until mommy prompts him along. He has long range endurance.

 Man oh Man I love these kids.

New Home - Life Under Construction

PLEASE EXCUSE THE CONSTRUCTION

After months of searching, several failed bids, several backup bid competitions, much pestering and determination, we finally landed the home of our dreams. Well, it will be the home of our dreams in about 10 years ... after we finish all the necessary upgrades. 

So ... just in time for us to become empty nest'ers. 

There's logic in that right?

We moved in last week and through Stark's hard work we continue to achieve a new fabulous milestone each evening.

• Monday night = refrigerated moved in, plugged in, working!
• Tuesday night = Microwave!!!
• Wednesday nigh = Kitchen Sink is plumbed and working
• Thursday night = Washer & Dry are plumbed, wired, and working. 
• Friday night = I'm guessing we'll be folding laundry. 

Now that we're functional but not quite settled in, we begin the hard work of cleaning up, fixing up, and listing our old home. So, we're still busy but the end is in sight. 

I'll post more on the home projects later but to give you a quick snapshot ...

Currently our life is dusty. 

Very, very dusty. 

Some day I will have grass again and the kids won't need to be hosed off. 

Literally ... we have them strip and hose off on the back deck. 

Huck calls it the 'car wash'.
