Easter 2013 - Part 2 - Little Plastic Eggs

Yay! Nana arrived!

Luckily the weather was beautiful, sunny and warm enough for Della to wear this beautiful dress ... which I'd been saving as it is a 24mo size and I thought it would be too big. Turns out it was exactly the right size ... which means this was probably the only time she'll ever wear it. But isn't she adorable???

So we headed out to find eggs ... which I had neatly hidden in the back yard. Della caught on pretty quickly, picking up eggs and putting them in her Elmo basket.

That is ... until she stepped on an egg and it cracked open revealing that we'd loaded each egg with puffs, her favorite candy! 

Then the eggs came back out of the basket and she focused on learning to open them herself ...

During our lunch break the kitchen looked like this ... broken eggs and puffs everywhere!

Easter 2013 - Part 1 - Breakfast and a Basket

Last year for Easter Della got a cute pink bunny and lots of boobie. This year ... well, things were a little more entertaining. 

The morning started with her daily green juice presented in a new yellow chick straw cup. She dutifully inspected her new friend before deciding that juice is simply juice no matter what cup it comes in. 

While waiting for daddy to join us I presented her with a selection of cute headbands, none of which stayed on her head for more than one second ... this was just a lucky shot.

Finally the Easter Basket!  Can you tell that daddy picked it out? Yes, it's an Elmo Easter basket. 

We are going to do our very best to prevent candy from becoming the focus so this year we bought a few entertaining items from the $1 bins at Target. First up are the plastic maracas ... 

Next, a train whistle ... 

I debated on this plastic slinky but now I'm glad I bought it ... as you'll see in upcoming pics, this slinky is definitely her favorite item. Also in the basket were several books and a healthy, yet sweet, snack bar. 

There was some loving from daddy ... 

... and lots of play time while we waited for Nana and the egg hunting fun.

Sunny Sunday Chores ...

After working a track & field event all Saturday, Daddy's Sunday was dedicated to vehicle maintenance ... 

the squeaky wheel gets the grease ... or new break pads ... or new calipers ... whatever

and of course it helps to have a little helper

... helping daddy jack up the car

 

She rolled that tire back and forth a couple times ...

Poor Poppi ... Della tried to feed him lunch which was more of a tease than actual food delivery.

 After Della tried to put these pink socks on her already sock clad feet I assisted by putting the socks on her hands which she found amazingly entertaining.

High-Five's for Daddy!

This shot was taken just moments after she laid on her belly to eat crumbs off the floor because, obviously, she couldn't use her hands.

So entertaining to discover what she finds entertaining

General update (just for you T) ... 

 As mentioned previously, we have grand plans to put the house we currently live in up for sale but we first need to complete two tasks ...
1. Finish our pre-listing punch list of items such as touch up paint, wash windows, and complete all those pesky little been-bugging-me-for-4-years repairs that any reasonable buyer will see immediately. We were on a hot streak checking things off our list but these last two weekends have shown no further improvement ... hopefully we'll get the house listed while the market still favors the seller!
2. Finish the remodel on the home we will move into. Previously Stark's childhood home, and most recently where Nana lived, it is overdue for some updates that will make life there with a toddler safe and comfortable. We are hashing out the final details of our contractors bid and work should start in the next week or so.
We will be very sad to leave our safe and friendly cul-de-sac neighborhood but we have big plans to reduce debt, save money, and buy our permanent home in the next 2-4 years. Cross you fingers we make this happen before the summer so we can enjoy our warm weekends doing something other than working on houses.
