Fathers Day 2014 - A Ferry Ride

For Fathers Day 2014
we partook in Stark's favorite activity
Road Tripping!

At the start of the day neither kid had been on a Ferry
by the end of the day they had been on 3 different boats!

Once we got moving Della wasn't so sure about the wind

But she really liked the puddles!

It didn't take Della long to become comfortable on the Ferry ...
requiring me to put the camera away and run after her!

Our original plan was to head towards Pt. Townsend but once on the Peninsula the rain drove us South
Since we hit sun again near Bremerton we decided to hop over to Vashon.

The 3 Ferry routes we traveled were:
Edmonds to Kingston
Southworth to Vashon
Vashon to Pt. Defiance

This is what a Vashon Island traffic jam looks like
1 Ferry bobbing around waiting for 2 Ferrys to depart
Everyone held up by a sail boat

But once on the island we enjoy looking for crabs under rocks...

 Unique playground toys...

Swings that swing really, really high!

Our road trip was successful in part due to:
Ferry boats that function as rest stops and toddler discovery centers
and
our new (to us) ford van which provided fantastic, safe and dry,
picnicking and playing space while waiting in line for the Ferry

Looking for PUPPIES in the Ferry waiting line

All in All it was a Great Day

 Happy Fathers Day Stark!
Since Della is still asking to ride on the BIG Boat
this may become our yearly tradition

A Dose of Della ... and Huck

A Dose of Della ... and Huck ... June happenings!

Where's Della?
Practicing her game of hide-n-seek one evening after dinner.
She's pretty good.
Good thing her feet still give the game away
otherwise I wouldn't have known where she was!

Conversing and hugging the local Park whoo-whoo (otherwise known as an owl ) ...

Discovering that she fits ever so nicely into our produce delivery box

Another evening excursion to our local Tacoma waterfront
on Della's 2-1/2 birthday!

My favorite picture of the evening ...

She is an excellent rock hopper!

The boys watching the rock hopping

Daddy trying to teach Della his mad rock skipping skills

Which evolved into a rock throwing session
no skipping achieved

But pleased with herself nonetheless!

Heading back to the van
 Taking her turn pushing Huck

 Huck ...
being Handsome ...
because he's good at it

So good at being handsome ... he can do it in his sleep

Hucks 6 Month Update

Huck's 6 Month Update

**he's already 7 months old but things typically run a month late around here**

22.5 lbs
generally a REALLY BIG BOY
wears 12 months clothes
perfecting the upper gears of his crawl
can stand and walk along the furniture
throws a tantrum when he can't do something his sister can
eats ... eats ... eats ... eats ... growing boy

Huck follows his sister and tries to join in ...
this moment led to a quick tug of war where Huck proved how strong he was by holding his own.

and emerging with a smile!

Huck met his cousin Willow over Memorial Weekend

He also *told* us that it was time to lower his crib

a rare morning of sibbling snuggles

Huck's first green juice ... which he loved

Huck learned to use a straw

and enjoyed his first popsicle

Huck continued to teeth now with more chewing options due to his mobility

He discovered toys that make noise

and met his grandfather for the first time

Most weekday mornings Huck snuggled with daddy while mama got ready for work

Della decided the jumper was actually a swing ...
and Huck laughed this crazy little giggle the whole time

Huck LOVE's his sister ...
and when Della isn't tired or hungry or simply jealous,
she loves him too

Huck discovered the Tunnel

Della attempted to take down her brother...

but in a twist of fate she got a glimpse of her future

Huck is  a very happy relaxed baby ... unless he's hungry.
His daytime meals are HUGE. I'm surprised every evening by the amount of food he puts away.
Yet he's growing so quickly we are still waking up 2 - 3 times a night for feedings!

He working hard at perfecting his mobility, the desire to walk is clear.
Now that Huck crawls we are surprised at his independence. He'll often take off down the dark hall to the playroom where he'll start exploring the toys ... all by himself!

Huck
you are a handsome fella and a flirt just like your daddy
I love your relaxed yet very observant attitude towards life
and I relish our evening snuggles
Your personality has been present and strong since the moment you were born
I have no doubt that you will always know Exactly Who You Are
I love you
~mama~
