This picture represents the aftermath of Della's first Halloween. As parents, we have yet to rediscover the joy of door-to-door trick-or-treating so we (I) had planned to dress up little miss D so she could assist Papa in handing out treats to all the little boys and girls. What's cuter than an adorable pumpkin sitting in Papa's arms as he answers the door? Yes, that is a pumpkin costume ($3 at goodwill).
Well ... miss D apparently had a different idea of how she would spend her evening and it DID NOT include a costume.
I only hope we haven't scared her for life. That pumpkin didn't last but 5 seconds before it was quickly removed and tossed onto the chair and a process of comforting was initiated.
D did answer a couple doors, and didn't start crying at the costumed kids (success!), before I took her upstairs to start her bedtime routine.
