Traveling Blind

Recently my daughter has developed a fondness for traveling blind. It started with a crochet blankie (limited vision), then random pieces of clothing (spotty vision), and most recently a full coverage pillowcase. With her material of choice she covers her head and proceeds to travel around the house blindly. Amazingly she doesn't bump into much and never with any force ... it's almost as if she can see ... like a blind bat from those really, really, dark caves. I'm wondering if babies come equiped with sonar and if so, why has science not picked up on this? She does trip on the trailing fabric and falls down often... but that's pretty typical these days, blind or not, after all she's only been walking for a couple months. We are very amused by this little drunken ghost who wanders our halls giggling wildly.

I am continually amazed by the process of growing and developing awareness of the senses. The Human experience is engineered perfection.
