Family Weekend @ Woodland Park Zoo

After a months of sporadic Della - Daddy time we decided it was time for a Family Weekend!
Our destination ...
Woodland Park Zoo

Ironically ... the last time I visited this zoo I was nearly the same age as Della
I wonder if I enjoyed it as much as she did?

Bear with me as this is blog about Della's trip to the zoo, not the animals in the zoo...

Della may not have known we were going to the Zoo but she was super excited to be going anywhere that required her handy giraffe backpack!

Of course a 40 minute drive will put anyone to sleep ... no matter how excited

She was a little unsure about the backpack as she hadn't traveled in such style since last fall...

But she warmed up to it quickly once she started spotting animals ... I believe this was the giraffes

This might have been lions ...

 Elephants!!
Note the hat made it about 15 minutes ...

And then we let her down to stretch her legs ..

Checking out the bronze monkey heads

 ... and the bronze monkeys!

What sound does a dog (wolf) make ... she actually howled!
Don't even know where she picked that up.

For Della ... a trip to the Zoo is just as much about playing with the other kids as it is animal watching.
Playing tag with a friendly little girl

 My Big & Little people

Token Grizzlies for your enjoyment
To keep you up at night ...
,,, these two brothers were born in the State of Washington!!

Getting close to a noisy peacock!
Della ran, and ran, and ran herself right back in to the backpack!

 Penguins!!

Did you say Lunch??

No worse for wear aside from the peanut butter smear on her cheek ...

All in all the Woodland Park Zoo was worth the trip although it is a bit overpriced for the non-member and the exhibits are so large it can be hard to spot the animals
which is good for the animals but not for the little Della's.
I think we'll stick to our  favorite local Point Defiance Zoo.

  1. I think I might just know where she picked up the wolf call.
