Della Meets the Mariners!

Della’s favorite chew toy is still the rubber likeness of Ichiro Suzuki in his Mariners baseball uniform … so, when the opportunity to attend a Mariner’s baseball game presented itself we eagerly accepted. We were doubly excited as not only would it be Della’s first baseball game but it was also Nana’s first pro game! With some great weather and a little last minute planning we managed to make it a day long excursion.

We started with a drive north to Lynwood to pick up a new used baby backpack Stark had found on craigslist. Della is still a little small for the big Kelty backpack and Stark was familiar with this, we’ll say vintage, style baby carrier. Although I was a little curious as to why we needed another pack I’ll be the first to say that this new pack is perfect for Della.

Sorry no pics of the Lynwood trip. But on the way back we stopped in Seattle at the Plum Bistro for a delicious vegan brunch. Della was super excited to be out and about and was a sweetheart as she sat through the meal in her highchair. She even offered to pay for brunch!

We then headed over to the Safeco field where Della flirted and made friends with everyone! We watched the opening Hall of Fame ceremony and the first few innings before heading out on an around-the-stadium tour for Nana and Della. As we walked around there were many passing comments along the lines of “what a cutie” and “look at that happy baby” so it seems Della was enjoying herself and her comfy elevated view from the new pack.

We made it thru the 7^th inning before hightailing it home ahead of traffic. Della did fantastic! And we discovered that the stadium has a very comfy mothers nursing lounge? Just one more thing I love about Safeco Field … which by the way, my company Kiewit built. Oh yeah ... the Mariners won!
