Christmas day started out peacefully with Della sleeping in until 9:30! Once we were up an around it was busyness cooking and cleaning in preparation for Christmas dinner. Of course, if you forget to pay attention to your newly 1 year old daughter for just a minute she'll find ways to keep herself occupied. This morning she found daddy's stash of Qtips and was entertaining herself when I finally realized I couldn't hear her and went looking.
Before dinner and while her clothes were still clean we adults entertained ourselves by watching Della open the last of the Holiday presents. I found this baby grand piano for a steal at a local consignment store. Della LOVES her Nana's piano so I brought this one home as her very own. When she first caught site of the piano there was a definite pause as she hugged herself in pure delight.
She then hot footed it right over ...
and inspected her present.
She knew exactly what to do with a piano ... you play it!
I think my $25 bucks was well spent.
Throughout the afternoon Della spent a significant amount of time in her ball tent. Here she is attempting to combine the goodness of the ball tent with the balloons.
Dinner was a success as Della enjoyed eating her roasted vegetables until drunk with fullness.
That night Della and mommy enjoyed some pre-bed dancing to Christmas music which was a very nice way to end our Christmas.
Although it may appear that our holiday was all about the presents but really it was about family and the joy of watching the excitement of a First Christmas through the eyes of a one year old little girl. Della was lucky enough to have her parents, Nana, and her great grandparents on hand all three days! She received a lot more love than gifts. Someday I hope to improve my picture taking skills to capture the big picture in a more photogenic manner but until then our snapshot blog will have to do.
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.
